Photo Walk 2020-10-17: Ball’s Bluff Battlefield Regional Park – Nature (RAIN DATE)

Ball's Bluff

Rain Date

Join other LPC photogs for an independent photo walk focusing on nature and landscape photography.

John T. will be leading this walk beginning at 9am. He’ll provide an overview of the park and some key points of interest before the walk begins, then you can walk with John or break off on your own. Small groups and social distancing rules will apply. The “visitor center” is the information kiosk and the nearby portable potty, so bring your own water, mask, and any other items you may need.

There are ~7 miles of trails in the park and many are flat to “easy” (particularly the interpretive trail). Some of them are more strenuous (like the red trail) and can be muddy after wet weather. (Link to trail map)

Ball’s Bluff Battlefield is the site of one of the largest Civil War engagements in Loudoun County. Visitors can take advantage of weekend guided tours from April through November, volunteer guided programs and living history events (weather permitting). Brochures are available year-round for self-guided walking tours of the park. Major sites at Ball’s Bluff include a cemetery, which is the third smallest national cemetery in the United States. Ball’s Bluff Battlefield Regional Park also features an interpretive trail, signage and an amazing view of the bluff itself, overlooking the Potomac River
