LPC Speaker Night 01/14/2016 — Tuan Pham on “Funtography”

Our first speaker for 2016 (7:00 PM, January 14) is Tuan Pham, who will speak on”Funtography”.Tuan’s presentation is about seeing, visual discovery, design, creativity, and fun, with three specific learning objectives: (1) to see with the whole mind, (2) to see and feel art, and (3) to have real fun along the way without travel long distances, climb mountains, or wake up before run rise.

Tuan Pham is originally from Vietnam and is a Zen practitioner. He studied at the University of Maryland and worked for 30 years in Metropolitan Washington, first as a banker and later as a mediator. Well into his retirement, Tuan took up nature photography as a hobby and joined Northern Virginia Photographic Society in 2005. Tuan learned photography largely by reading art books and occasional workshops with Joseph Miller, Freeman Patterson, Maine Media Workshops, among others. He also draws inspiration from reading haiku and teachings on “Wise attention”.
Tuan’s photographs reflect his worldview – “Life consists of moments. All are worth exploring; none are worth ignoring”. “Funtography”, he hopes, will help us focus not only on the outer appearance of art, but also its to inner significance.
