If you are driving down GW Blvd. away from the interchange where you come in Exploration is the first building on your left. Innovation Hall is the second on your left. 45085 University Drive, Ashburn, VA 20147

In follow up to discussion at the September competition meeting I’ve sent request to GWU for a room reservation for next Thursday evening, October 3, 2013. Several people wanted to participate in order to get some instruction on matting their images.

I’m asking for some of our experienced photographers to help out by attending and bringing along your mat cutting tools. I’m not sure whether the club has any mat board left over from the last time we made a purchase on behalf of the club. If there is none, we’ll send another note with suggestions on where you can procure materials. Locally, you can find 3/16 inch foam core backing board along with 4-ply white mat board at places like: Ben Franklin in Leesburg, Michael’s in Ashburn and other locations, A. C. Moore in Ashburn, Plaza Art in Fairfax, Blick (formerly Utrecht) in D.C., among others… If you want archival longevity be sure to get acid free materials. If it’s just short term display, standard board material is fine.

Please reply to this note via our Yahoo Group page indicating if you can attend and whether you’ll be “learner” or “teacher”! I will attend and bring my compact mat cutter (ok for 32 inch mats). We’ve had several people indicate they’ll attend so far.

Dova at GWU will let us know early in the week which room we will have and I’ll update the post with that info…
