NO MEETING DECEMBER 27, 2012 – HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

Hello Everyone,
Please don’t miss our January 10th speaker meeting; Barbara Ellison’s deep knowledge of Alternative Printing and various substrates is fantastic! She will be bringing many of her photographs printed on art papers from other corners of the world, metal, canvas, etc. to pass around. I was mesmerized when I heard her presentation at another venue and saw her incredible works of art! She will also share her sources for these beautiful papers. Details are below:

Alternative printing
Creating your image is just the beginning. Printing is the completion. Barbara will discuss substrate choices – from the traditional inkjet papers to the alternatives including wood, metal and silk. She will discuss the options for showing your work, from small art books and card stock to large canvas prints. Making the right choice in printing can set your work apart from other artists and complete your vision.

Barbara Ellison has been fortunate to be able to combine five of her favorite pastimes into her imaging experience – photography, art, gardening, travel and teaching.

As a ProMarket representative for Canon USA since 1989, she has had the opportunity to try her hand at photographing various subjects, ranging from political events to sports, from landscapes to macro.  Several years ago, Barbara started printing on alternative substrates with Canon printers, and has become the expert at Canon on alternative printing.

When her husband, Michael Kovach, opened up a species orchid nursery, she started documenting the orchids and began exploring different ways to enhance them.  She teaches photography workshops around the country instructing individuals on hand coloring techniques and alternative print processes.

Her work is published in the book “Digital Photo Art” by Theresa Airey and books by Patrick Rice titled “Professional Techniques for Black and White Photography” and “Digital Infrared Photography”.  Her pastel enhanced orchids were featured in articles in several publications.  She has shown in galleries in up and down the Eastern seaboard.  Barbara resides with her four dogs and a cat in Goldvein, Virginia.   You can contact her thorough her website:
