The new photoshop cs4 is here! Probably it’s neatest feature is called “content aware scaling”. At first this sounds pretty boring. But seeing a demo makes a world of difference. The software recognizes the “important” parts of an image and allows you to scale the image by reducing the “unimportant” pixels and keeping the important ones. For example, in a picture of a car, the tires and headlights should be kept to a certain proportion, but the middle of the door can be squeezed or even thrown away.

We will still meet at the George Washington University Virginia Campus on Sept 25 and Oct 9. However, we will be in a different building. When coming from Rt. 7, you come to a stop sign/intersection. Usually you go left. Instead, for these two meetings, go RIGHT. It will be the first building on your right. The entrance is in what appears to be the back. There will be a receptionist to sign in with as usual and someone will be there to tell you where to go.

Charles, our Competition Coordinator, has updated the competition rules for the 2008-2009 season. Please read through them carefully before our first competition in Oct. There have been a few changes and some clarifications.
