Meadowlark Results Announced

Comments Off

We submitted 99 photos and 29 were accepted. More from our fabulous Meadowlark Coordinator, Oscar:

The Meadowlark Photo Judging is complete! Congratulations to everyone
that had images accepted into the exhibit. The judging was even
tougher than usual and very few pictures received 3-votes. In fact one
of the club’s didn’t have a single print with 3-votes.

The Best of Show and Runner-Up was won by Sarah Croan of NVPS and 3rd
place by someone from McClean. Below are our clubs accepted prints
(3-votes were needed to be a candidate for Best in Show):

Thank you to everyone who participated. We had a total of 17 members
that submitted prints and hopefully more members will participate next
year.

Total Entries: 833

January Speaker Update

Book cover
We’re so lucky, we have two speakers who wanted to talk to us in January! We’ve moved the nature photography talk to later in the season and instead are welcoming Roy Sewall to discuss how to produce a photography book. He will share with us his experiences from producing his newly published book of images of the Potomac. This will be a very interesting talk on what is becoming a hot topic.

Get Ready for Meadowlark

Comments Off

Meadowlark is fast approaching!

For those of you who have had photos accepted into Meadowlark, bring them for the exhibit at the Fairfax Govt Center! The hanging is Saturday at 9am at the Fairfax Govt Center. NOTE: MUST BE FRAMED, NOT SAWTOOTH hangers (use the wire hangers, easiest is to get the Neilson frames.) Questions – contact Oscar.

We will have a matting party this Saturday as well! Great for those of you who need help matting and for experts who want the extra push to get ready and to have some fun as well. See the calendar event for time and location: http://www.loudounphotoclub.com/?p=46

And don’t forget there is a great keynote on Friday night – Frans Lanting, but you must buy tickets ahead of time. Check out the meadowlark website for more info: http://www.meadowlarkphotoexpo.org/

Get ready for Meadowlark and mat your photos! We’ll have mat boards for sale. If you have a mat cutter bring it along. If you don’t, others will bring theirs to share. If you’ve never matted before and want to learn or if you’re an expert and want to share in the fun – come and enjoy!

Exhibit of Past Meadowlark Acceptances

Comments Off
January 5, 2008

There will be an exhibit at the Fairfax County Government Center of previously shown Meadowlark Photo Expo images. Any image that was accepted into Meadowlark is allowed.

NOTE: Prints must be matted and framed for exhibit (using most likely the wire hangers not saw tooth hangers). Participants will probably have to hang their own images since they’ll be framed with glass.

Check back as the date approaches – we will have more info about how to submit your prints.

Although he’ll have copies of his book for sale, this will primarily be a talk about producing a book and getting published.
