The classical definition of macro photography is that the image projected on the “film plane” (i.e., film or digital sensor) is close to the same size as the subject. This competition will expand that definition to include “close-up” images taken by cameras or lenses that are not capable of obtaining a 1:1 magnification. Judge: Corey Hilz, http://www.coreyhilz.com/
The competition starts at 7pm, but please show up early to get your images signed-in.

Hola! It’s party time! Come celebrate another successful year for the Loudoun Photo Club. We have such an awesome group of people. This is a great time to get to know each other and share our work. Guests are welcome.
Anyone who won 1st or 2nd place in one of this year’s competitions is welcome to submit those images for the End of Year Competition. All images need to arrive by 7 p.m. to be included. Club matting rules apply to all but the Meadowlark exceptions. We need everyone there to vote for this year’s Photo of the Year!
The club will provide the main dish (Mexican Style) and the sodas. If you would like to bring a side dish or dessert to share, you are welcome to do that. Just make your selection from the drop down box below. It’s BYOB for those of you who want something a little stronger than soda.
Members are welcome to bring your portfolios or laptops to share your images with the group. If you’d like to have your images projected on the big screen, bring a disk or a thumb drive.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there.
Denise & Michelle
This is the tenative competition schedule for the coming season.
We have made a few changes to the competition rules to accommodate the growth of entries. The new rules, in PDF, can be found here – LPC Competition Rules for 2009-2010 . Also see – 2009-2010 LPC Competition FAQ The tenative schedule – LPC 2009-2010 Competition Season
The last official, judged competition for the year. This is an ‘open’ themed competition – anything G-rated… macro, landscapes, wildlife, abstract, etc. can be entered by paid LPC members; please bring your membership card. LPC competition rules will be in effect – See competition rules.
Our judge for the evening will be Corey Hilz. View his website here
There will be a dinner meet and greet before the meeting beginning at 5:30p at Rubino’s in Ashbrook Commons
The competition theme for March is Nature. For this one competition, the maximum size will be increased from 11×14 to 16×20 to allow members to enter photos that did not make it into the Meadowlark Competition. Any Meadowlark submission matching the theme can be entered, with one exception – Ross Konigsburg has no Meadowlark photos because he had all six of his submissions accepted – congratulations Ross! All other LPC competition rules will apply. See the competition rules (PDF).
The judge for the evening will be Josh Taylor. Learn more about Josh at his website – http://archiphotoworkshops.com/bio.html

NOTE: MUST BE FRAMED, NOT SAWTOOTH hangers (use the wire hangers, easiest is to get the Neilson frames.) Questions – contact Oscar.
We will have a matting party this Saturday as well! Great for those of you who need help matting and for experts who want the extra push to get ready and to have some fun as well. See the calendar event for time and location: http://www.loudounphotoclub.com/?p=46
And don’t forget there is a great keynote on Friday night – Frans Lanting, but you must buy tickets ahead of time. Check out the meadowlark website for more info: http://www.meadowlarkphotoexpo.org/
