LPC Photo Competition 2009-2010 Season

Comments Off

This is the tenative competition schedule for the coming season.

  • September 24th: Open – Any images that are “G-rated” or “Family Friendly.”  Ideally, images would come from the photographer’s work over the “summer vacation,” but this is not required.  judge TBA
  • October 22nd: People - mages where a person or a “G-rated” portion of the human body is the central subject.  Judge: Shelley Miller
  • January 28th: Complementary color – Images containing complementary colors.  In short, colors are complementary if when mixed they form a shade of gray.  Complementary colors include Red/Cyan, Green/Magenta, Blue/Yellow.  See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Complementary_color for more info, or do a Google search on “complementary colors.”  Judge: Josh Taylor
  • March 25th: “Hand of Man” – Images where the “hand of man” is the central subject.  This can be architecture, buildings, bridges, automobiles, boats, etc.  Anything that is made by man.  Judge: Roy Sewall
  • April 22nd: Macro and close-up – The classical definition of macro photography is that the image projected on the “film plane” (i.e., film or digital sensor) is close to the same size as the subject.  This competition will expand that definition to include “close-up” images taken by cameras or lenses that are not capable of obtaining a 1:1 magnification. Judge: Corey Hilz
  • May 27th: Nature – Images where the “hand of man” is not visible or a very minor portion of the image.  Judge: Joe Rossbach
  • June or July:  End of Year Competition – First place winners from previous months will compete for Print of the Year. Eligible entries may be expanded to include other prints at the discretion of the Contest Coordinator.
